2023 - A Year of Milestones and Momentum

As we approach the end of an exhilarating year at Motorsports Gateway Howell (MGH), it's time to reflect on the remarkable journey we embarked on at the start of 2023. From the first day of construction to our most recent developments, we want to share the milestones we’ve achieved to lay the foundation for an extraordinary automotive district. Let's take a ride through the timeline, quarter-by-quarter.
First Quarter
Construction Begins
We begin our ambitious construction journey, and with great excitement, we proudly put the 'Coming Soon' sign up on MGH grounds, marking the commencement of our exciting journey.
Timber Logging
Dawning flannel jackets and the spirit of Paul Bunyan, we undertake the extensive task of clearing 50 acres of thickly forested land to make room for our private driving circuit, garage condos, and paddock.
Erosion Control & Tree Protection
To ensure the preservation of our local ecosystem and remaining 223 acres of wooded landscape, we take action to control erosion and protect our lush tree lines from continued construction activities.
SECOND Quarter
Stumping & Chipping
Stump removal efforts result in an impressive 30,000 cubic yard stockpile of wood chips, which we reuse around the property for a cleaner construction site.
Land Clearing
The removal of substantial boulders and careful leveling of terrain transform the landscape into a smooth dirt canvas. We can finally begin the detailed work necessary to prepare for structures on the property.
Tech Team & The Monthly Rev
In a strategic move, we assemble a dedicated Tech Team focused on developing innovative track technology features. The team also updates our audience with the first Monthly Rev newsletter!
Third Quarter
Rough Earthworks
We begin the removal of topsoil and the initiation of essential earthworks to lay the foundation for the automotive district’s future construction stages.
Extending the South Circuit
The opportunity to extended the South Circuit and incorporate additional complex features is realized, allowing us to create a more thrilling experience for drivers at our ever-evolving automotive district.
Stockpiling & Construction Yard
A well-organized construction yard takes shape and our teams begin stockpiling materials on site allowing us to efficiently continue construction activities through the upcoming winter season.
Cutting-in of the South Circuit
594,000 cubic feet of soil is removed as we cut-in the foundation of the district’s crowing feature, the track. Our team is sparked with new excitement as the curves of the private driving circuit are uncovered!
Fourth Quarter
Access Road
Construction of the mile-long access road progresses, ensuring smooth transportation for future visitors, our team, and large equipment as we work diligently to bring our automotive district to life.
Stormwater Management
Reflecting our dedication to environmental stewardship, the installation of a complex stormwater management systems begins in collaboration with the State of Michigan and local agencies.
Preparing for Condo Foundations
Looking back on 2023, we’re filled with gratitude for those who helped us achieve our milestones. With eager anticipation, we prepare to announce the trenching of garage condo foundations!
